Sunny Leone’s journey from ‘Bigg Boss’ to ‘Raees’

The former adult star who made her first appearance on Indian television with a wild-card entry on a reality show, has over time successfully crossed into mainstream cinema. Sunny Leone made fans out of everyone; be it little children or grown-ups.

With every hit dance number and her charm, the actress proved her mettle and showed how working hard can make dreams come true. Here’s taking a look at Sunny Leone’s journey from ‘Bigg Boss’ to shaking a leg with Shah Rukh Khan in ‘Raees’.

Salman Khan returned as the show’s host, but this time around he had Sanjay Dutt along with him to shoulder his duties.

Sunny danced, laughed and enjoyed her stay and started to make fans right away. When filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt visited the house during the show’s course, he went as far as offering her a film when she gets out of the house.
During her stay in the ‘Bigg Boss’ house, Sunny was approached by Bollywood film-maker Mahesh Bhatt who entered the house briefly to offer her the lead role in ‘Jism 2’. The film was the sequel to the 2003 film ‘Jism’ which starred Bipasha Basu and John Abraham. The filmmaker kept his promise and she accepted the role, which resulted in Pooja Bhatt’s production house, Fish Eye Network and Leone’s agent discussing the movie further. Sunny entered Bollywood in 2012 and the film was commercially successful.

A few more films later, Sunny landed Ekta Kapoor’s supernatural-thriller ‘Ragini MMS 2’. And with the film, Sunny also landed the stellar musical composition of Meet Bros and Yo Yo Honey Singh and Kanika Kapoor’s powerful vocals. With ‘Baby Doll Main Sone Di’ and ‘Chaar Botal Vodka’, the film’s album topped the music charts for weeks on end and Sunny’s striking dance moves made her a household name. To top it off, the film became a major box-office success, further cementing Sunny’s reputation as a bona fide star.

After delivering another musical hit with ‘Ek Paheli Leela’, Sunny featured in comedies like ‘Kuch Kuch Locha Hai’ and ‘Mastizaade’, and also continued working down south in different regional film industries. Soon, she was gifted with a cameo in Akshay Kumar’s ‘Singh Is Bliing’. Sunny made her desire to work with the biggies known and they were hearing. Next up, Shah Rukh Khan wanted her to feature in his film’s maiden dance number – ‘Laila Main Laila’. The actress, who had already called herself Laila in another song – ‘Laila Teri Le Legi’ in ‘Shootout at Wadala’, now got a chance to shake a leg on the iconic ‘Laila’ track from ‘Qurbani’. Sunny will be soon making another lively appearance in Ajay Devgn-starrer ‘Baadshaho’. Over the course of six years, Sunny has surely made an indelible mark in Bollywood.
